Hello, I'm Dr. Rika Sanghavi, a Postdoctoral Psychologist providing online psychotherapy to folks throughout New York State. I specialize in supporting teens, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety and depression, stress, self-esteem and identity challenges, relationship concerns, and overall well-being. I've also worked with those coping with high-pressure academic and professional settings, where intense expectations often lead to anxiety, burnout, and self-doubt. Additionally, I work with individuals and families navigating impact and the lasting effects of childhood trauma.
I welcome and I am well-trained and versed in working with people from all backgrounds and social identities, but given the increasing marginalization of certain communities, I am especially committed to providing culturally sensitive care to immigrants, particularly those from South Asian backgrounds, to address their unique experiences. My work is sex-positive, LGBTQ+ affirming, and anti-racist, and I consider how identity, social pressures, and larger political forces influence your experiences to support deeper self-exploration.
My goal is to create a safe, trusting space where you feel seen and supported in your healing journey, wherever you may be. My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), helping clients recognize and reshape thought and behavior patterns that contribute to stress and emotional distress. I also take a relational approach, acknowledging how past and present relationships shape your experiences. I use our therapeutic relationship as a space to explore patterns, build self-awareness, and foster meaningful connections. In addition, I integrate other evidence-based modalities to enhance self-awareness, build resilience, and support meaningful change.
I earned my PsyD. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University in San Francisco, California, and completed my pre-doctoral internship at Southwest Behavioral Health in Phoenix, Arizona. My clinical experiences have included providing crisis support on hotlines, offering in-home therapy, working with individuals with mental and physical disabilities, and supporting high school students.
Please feel free to reach out so we can explore how we can work together. I look forward to connecting with you.
