Hello there! My name is Sara, and I am a postdoctoral fellow at Bryant West Psychology. I specialize in working with emerging adults and adults as they navigate a diverse range of experiences - including but not limited to trauma, mood concerns, grief, relationship difficulties, challenges with self-compassion, perfectionism, and significant life transitions.

Seeking therapy is not always an easy decision, and people come to therapy for many different and equally valid reasons. You might be feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or unsure how to manage the many burdens you are carrying. Perhaps you are questioning your identity, processing past or present pain, or maybe you are seeking a steady support system as you navigate the world. No matter what brings you in the door, my goal is to create a space where your needs can be heard and centered.

I believe therapy works best as a collaborative process, and I recognize how crucial it is to feel safe with the person you are sharing your story with. Using a relational lens, I strive to honor all aspects of your identity, culture, and personhood as we shape the therapeutic space to feel empowering and uniquely yours. Your voice and autonomy are central to this process: we will work together to decide what feels important and helpful to you along the way.

As a provider, I offer an integrative approach to my therapeutic style to support the multidimensionality of your experiences from multiple angles. I often draw from existential-humanistic, psychodynamic, and emotion-focused approaches to help people unpack and process their feelings and behavioral patterns, and utilize strength-based approaches to assist those looking to gain clarity and confidence in affirming life values, decisions, and new ways to cope. I am also an advocate for neuro-affirming care, and I aim to respect and work with the natural ways you think, feel, and process the world. Additionally, I offer alternative ways to communicate in therapy when words alone feel insufficient, incorporating expressive arts practices and somatic tools when appropriate.

After growing up in New York and studying psychology, sociology, and philosophy at Stony Brook University, I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern University and completed my doctoral internship at Towson University’s Counseling Center. I have had the privilege of working with individuals across the lifespan in various settings during my career, including inpatient hospitals, community mental health clinics, and college counseling centers in the Chicagoland and Baltimore areas. A significant portion of my training and education has focused on providing care for individuals from marginalized and underserved communities, which has deeply influenced my commitment to offering person-centered, affirming, and accessible care.

Outside of my professional life, I have an avid love for nature, animals, and sunflowers. I enjoy yoga, playing cozy video games, and dabbling in every creative hobby I can get my hands on. I also find incredible joy in reading and writing angsty romance stories, which inspire me to stay curious about the many ways people connect and care for one another.

Regardless of where you are in your journey, it would be an honor to walk alongside you in the next step of your healing process. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to talk.
