Self-awareness, self-compassion, self-esteem? Enhanced resilience, executive functioning, self-care? Meaningful connections, authenticity, belonging?” We all long for these, but they can escape us during difficult times in life. I am a New York State Licensed Clinical Psychologist who works with children and adults in individual psychotherapy and groups. One of the first things I'll ask you is how you want your life and mental health to improve within the next few months. To achieve this, I use an integrative, client-centered approach to therapy, weaving together cognitive-behavioral (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), compassion-focused, psychodynamic, and relational interventions to address those issues that in the moment and over time have most impacted your functioning and peace of mind.
I work with a broad spectrum of folk, across all genders and sexualities, with specializations in treating men, most particularly gay/bi/queer men, as well as other LGBTQ clients. I have extensive experience with neurodiverse clients, both children and adults with autism and ADHD. Other areas of specialization are depression; anxiety, perfectionism, and shame; religious and spiritual concerns; family-of-origin issues; conflictual work, family and romantic relationships; issues arising in the areas of attachment, sex, kink, poly, ethical nonmonogamy, as well as substance use, and other addictions, compulsions and behavioral concerns. . .
My work is always collaborative and driven by your needs. My clients value our therapeutic relationship as a place for open, supportive, and easy communication, humor, warmth, empathy, and affirmation. Still, I also aim to create a connection between us strong enough to hold courageous explorations of self and, when necessary, engage deeply in existential issues and questions. I hope you can rely on me for honest feedback and candor as together, we challenge you to grow and make changes you may not have thought you could make.
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, I hold a doctorate in clinical psychology from Palo Alto University. I trained in Chicago over the last two years and recently moved to New York City, where I am excited to begin a new journey. I am qualified to work with all ages through clinical training at three university counseling centers, community clinics for older adults and LGBTQ young adults, group therapy for neurodiverse children, and two LGBTQ-oriented private practices. Having also lived in DC, England, Spain, and Taiwan, I implement cultural competence and humility in working with clients of many racial, cultural, regional, and international identities.
I encourage you to contact me and discuss how I might best help you engage in your therapeutic journey of healing, growth, and hope.
