Hello, I’m Dr. Justin Giallorenzo, and I am a New York State licensed clinical psychologist.

I offer individual psychotherapy to adults of all ages, sexual orientations, and gender identities/expressions online and in-person, in English and Spanish. I strive to create a collaborative, curious, and culturally humble therapeutic space that promotes and invites the transition from talking about emotions to fully feeling them. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, sexual identity exploration, self-defeating behaviors (e.g. procrastination), and academic/professional difficulties. As a musician and avid arts aficionado, I also enjoy working with artists in supporting creativity, overcoming blocks, and enhancing self-expression.

In therapy, we will work to strengthen your understanding of the thoughts and patterns of behavior (particularly in relationships) which no longer serve you. Together we will develop new paths forward and ways of being in the world that help you to flourish and reach your goals. My approach integrates techniques from relational psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral traditions to support your growth.

My training and experience informs me that accessing the depths of your emotional experience can be transformative, expanding both your range of inner experience and your interpersonal expressiveness – all to great effect. Further, I hold that by helping you to identify what truly matters to you, and assisting you to act in ways that align with your values, you can live a more satisfying and meaningful life. You more than likely already possess substantial strengths and inner resources needed to overcome many of life’s challenges. Together, we can identify those strengths and resources, to discover ways to channel them into the areas where you are experiencing greater difficulties. Perhaps key to the work I do is to establish and maintain a connection between us that is informative, growth-oriented and healing.

I have a doctorate in clinical psychology from Palo Alto University, and I have trained in numerous mental health settings, including outpatient clinics at major university hospitals, homeless shelters, and community settings, as well as inpatient psychiatric settings. Over the past five years, I have worked as a bilingual provider in English and Spanish. I completed my predoctoral internship at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn and my postdoctoral training at New York Presbyterian-Columbia’s adult outpatient clinic in Manhattan.

Please reach out if you would be interested in working together. I would be delighted to hear from you.
