As a bilingual (English and Spanish-speaking) clinical psychology postdoctoral fellow at Bryant West, I primarily offer individual psychotherapy to older adolescents and adults of all ages, ethnicities, cultures, and to the LGBTQIA+ community. I have helped people struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, relational conflicts, procrastination, perfectionism, and personality disorders, among others. Also, I have supported people concerned about their work/academic performance, and those experiencing a diffuse sense of who they are, as well as those with other identity struggles.
I practice contemporary Relational Psychodynamic Psychotherapy informed by Neuropsychoanalysis and Transference-Focused Psychotherapy. Accordingly, I maintain that many of our struggles come from learned patterns of feeling, thinking, and behaving that once helped us to navigate the world but over time became ineffective, hindering our capacity to fully engage in life; leaving us stuck and struggling with the very concerns that lead us to psychotherapy.
In the consulting room (sometimes virtually), we come to see and understand these old patterns of relating and self-protecting, so you can courageously let them go while being grateful for their past service to you. Together, we establish new patterns of relating that might better meet your current needs, desires and goals. In doing so, you could live a more authentic and fulfilling life supported by satisfying relationships with others and to yourself–one aligned with the life you’ve envisioned.
For these reasons, I invest significantly in our therapeutic relationship. The trust and intimacy we build help us cultivate an emotional experience that promotes personal and interpersonal growth. We cultivate such emotional experience by consistently conversing and exploring possible immediate barriers in our relationship. As such, I strive to help you feel understood, heard, and seen by approaching you and your concerns with a non-judgmental stance, genuine curiosity, warmth, and compassion. I aim to listen with unwavering attention and respond with tactful intention. Should I fail to do so, I remain open and curious about how my immediate actions have affected you and continue to cultivate our relationship. As we work together, although we primarily focus on your current struggles, we also explore your past to link it to your present concerns that led you to psychotherapy.
I earned my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Ponce Health Sciences University in Puerto Rico and completed my predoctoral internship at the Counseling and Psychological Services Center at Stony Brook University. Early in 2025, I obtained a theoretical certification (63 didactic hours) in Transference-Focused Psychotherapy awarded by TFP Latinoamérica. Committed to my professional growth, I continue my training in psychoanalysis and transference-focused psychotherapy.
I look forward to getting to know you, establishing an enriching relationship, and supporting you to build new ways of being.
