Clinical Psychologist
In Network: Aetna
I am an empathetic and dedicated licensed clinical psychologist with 11 years of experience working with adults, adolescents, and children (6 years old and up). My main goal is always to provide a safe, supportive, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment that encourages open dialogue and the freedom to be authentically yourself.
Throughout my career, I have worked with a wide range of clinical issues but specialize in the following conditions: complex trauma (e.g. sexual abuse/assault, physical abuse, domestic violence, refugee, immigration, generational/historical), anxiety, depression, traumatic brain injury, race-related stress, grief and loss, relationship/interpersonal difficulties, attachment, mood disorders, chronic illness, family discord, substance abuse, attention deficit disorder (ADHD), toxic stress, emotional regulation, child development/parenting challenges, and chronic pain.
I have been trained in a variety of treatment modalities (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IP), Psychodynamic, etc.), but I primarily conceptualize from a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, family systemic perspective that integrates elements of other treatment modalities and humor as fit for each individual; a fancy way of saying that YOU are the expert on you, and I am here to assist you on becoming the best version of yourself. I tailor my methods to meet the unique needs of everyone, especially children and adolescents, as they undergo their own unique developmental changes and exploration of identity. When working with children and adolescents, I like to receive input from parents and keep them informed of their child's or/teen’s progress. Often, a significant goal when working with children/adolescents is strengthening the parent-child relationship.
I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern University and completed my pre-and post-doctoral training at the Indian Health Board of Minneapolis. My experiences in evidence-based clinical care and multidisciplinary consultation include integrated psychological and neuropsychological assessment, outpatient community mental health, substance abuse, school-based consultation, outpatient support groups, program development, testing supervision, clinical supervision, individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy, and teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level. I’ve been involved in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) research and continue to advocate for trauma-informed care in schools, reducing toxic stress, and addressing issues (e.g., food insecurity, clean drinking water, poverty) at the community and government level that impact ACE scores.
Starting therapy can bring a mix of emotions, and searching for a therapist can be a daunting task. I am currently accepting new clients and invite you to reach out to schedule a consultation. It is important to me that you feel comfortable and my therapeutic approach is beneficial to you before starting your healing journey.
