Gerald Pantoja, Ph.D.
Clinical Psychologist
In Network: Aetna
Wherever you might be in your life’s journey, and no matter how heavy the burdens you may carry, I am dedicated to meeting you where you are. As your therapist, I will support you with compassion, understanding, and insight as you take the risky (and courageous) step of sharing your experiences with me.
I am a well-trained Clinical Psychologist with 10+ years of experience who has worked in many diverse settings in NYC. I bring to our work my expertise in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness Practices, as well as a deep Relational (Psychodynamic) understanding of those struggles and concerns both unique to you and also familiar to our shared humanity. In a city and society that is often frustrating, challenging, and even thwarting at times for all of us, but particularly for those of us who identify as BIPOC, Queer, and/or Differently Abled, I commit to offering a space to feel seen, heard, and understood.
I am particularly adept at working with issues of anxiety and depression, panic, self-harm and suicidal feelings, grief and loss, defeating patterns of personality that get in the way of forming sustaining relationships and work, life transitions, as well as struggles around identity - including that of breaking out of roles and expectations that prevent you from living a fuller, richer, more personally satisfying, more authentic life. Through my own personal and educational experiences, I know many of these struggles. I am confident that I have the skills to help you with them.
I look forward to meeting you and beginning our journey together.
