Before diving into difficult experiences, sharing emotions, or learning new skills, it’s essential to feel comfortable and trust your therapist. In my more than 16 years of independent practice, I have created a warm, respectful, and engaging space where people feel heard and understood. I work to know you as a person — including your strengths—so that we can work together on your challenges and goals. I bring compassion, openness and humor, but you set the pace for our work together.

I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I combine mindfulness with a focus on what matters most to you, helping you move past unhelpful patterns. I also practice Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for individuals who struggle with self-destructive behaviors, including those with borderline personality disorder. My foundation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) informs much of my work, especially when we focus on practical strategies and skill-building.

People who have experienced trauma have been an extensive part of my practice. That includes military personnel (active duty and veterans), survivors of sexual and family violence, refugees, and medical professionals. I’m sensitive to how systemic oppression can compound the trauma experienced by marginalized groups. I use evidence-based trauma treatments like Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy, as well as therapies specifically designed for moral injury.

Over the past decade, I’ve specialized in providing affirming care for the LGBTQ+ community. It’s a privilege to work with people in this community, which has so many unique strengths. My work includes being part of the US Navy’s Transgender Care Team, conducting trainings and designing and supervising rotations in LGBTQ+-affirming care, and serving as the LGBTQ+ Veteran Care Coordinator at a VA hospital. I am sex-positive, kink-positive, and poly-affirming. I am also experienced at providing evaluations and letters for gender-affirming care, including surgeries.

As a health psychologist, I also focus on pain management. I completed a post-doctoral fellowship in this area and I then worked for several years as part of a multidisciplinary team in an orthopedic/spine clinic. I have deep empathy for the challenges of people experiencing chronic pain. I find fulfillment in helping people lead more functional, meaningful lives despite their pain.

I earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago and my Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Florida.
