Clinical Psychologist
In Network: Aetna
Greetings. I am a warm, compassionate, licensed Clinical Psychologist, working with adults and children in English and Mandarin. I offer individual, family, and group psychotherapy with a focus on depression, anxiety, and intense emotional states, such as fear, anger, hopelessness, and shame. I work with people who have survived trauma and other deep emotional wounds, as well as those going through life transitions, such as becoming a parent, entering a new job or relationship, break ups, or the complexities of adjusting to life in a new culture and society - a journey about which I do know a lot. I rely on relational, humanistic, trauma-informed, mindfulness, and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) approaches to psychotherapy.
I integrate these therapeutic approaches into our work while tailoring your psychotherapy to your unique needs and goals. Together and collaboratively, we may delve into the dynamics of your relationships, explore the meaning of your life choices, address the impact of trauma on how you show up for yourself and others, or I may facilitate present-moment awareness and acceptance. Whether we are deepening our insight into your struggles or developing practical coping skills through DBT, my objective is to craft a holistic and personalized therapeutic experience that is uniquely yours. In my work, I aim to foster trust, connection, and, at its core, love with others and, crucially, within yourself. That is the deeply humanistic aspect of my work with you.
As an Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, I supervise and teach Psychology and Psychiatry trainees, and attending with them to what most helps their patients also informs my work and keeps it current as I see it often through new eyes. Additionally, I actively participate in ongoing research in psychotherapy and supervision, mainly focusing on the therapeutic alliance. That, too, informs and enhances my psychotherapeutic practice.
As an immigrant, I bring a unique perspective to navigating the challenges of adapting to a new culture, cultivating resilience, and identifying aspects of culture and society that relegate some marginalized statuses. 如果您希望用母语交流,我也提供普通话的心理治疗 As a father, I understand the complexities of juggling various roles at once and the importance of showing up as a person who nurtures emotional well-being when entrusted by those who honor me by sharing their deepest vulnerabilities.
I would be honored to have the opportunity to work with you on a journey of healing and hope, new beginnings and risk-taking, and daring to be more fully yourself in our complex and challenging culture and this time through which we are all living. I hope that together, our collaborative efforts will contribute to your personal growth, increased self-compassion, and the emergence of a more fulfilling life for you and those you love.
